About the Maine Traveling Chef
Hello! I am Elaine Holmes, Personal Chef & owner of Maine Traveling Chef. I grew up in Maine & learned to cook from my Mother and Grandmother as they always made everything from scratch, starting with New England recipes such as fish chowder, chicken pot pie, meatloaf, shepherd's pie, boiled dinner, roasts, corn & potato scallops, mac & cheese, baked beans, bread & rolls, cookies, pies, & cakes.
I Knew at a young age I wanted to cook, I entered the Culinary Arts department at Cape Cod Regional Technical High School and had four years of training to start my love of cooking.
After many years of being away from cooking, I got back into the food business when I worked at a local Chain restaurant, and from there got a job at a nursing home, and there is where I discovered again why I love to cook. I left the nursing home and started working at Avalon Village in Hampden Maine, and with the help of the former owner of the Maine Traveling Chef (Joann Brown) I truly found where I am supposed to be. I love cooking for the residents at Avalon and now work as the Kitchen Manager/Head Chef, while taking over this catering Business.
